Ironical

from a fear of flying

more people died in car accidents

than the initial bombing;

and i'm sure it's quite common

for unknowable consequences

from unimaginable tragedies

to breed the finest of ironies.

25 years ago today a plane went down at our local airport outside Detroit....the only survivor, a little girl...a miracle they call her. I guess she is. But then we are all walking miracles if we can still breath and see the sky, or walk our old out-of-date dogs...
after reading your poem, I started to wonder if any tragedy is unimaginable. since the news tells us that everything and anything has happened...But I love the irony here as it relates to my own life....I never fly in airplanes...too scared I guess......nicely written....dana

I can relate to your feelings about this situation. I am petrified of flying airplanes. I went on one recently and I never will again. This poem made me feel connections to my own life.
