"We've Never Been"

"We've Never Been"

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.

"

from a fairy tale exists the very brave child, in a house made of cloth and glass

an impossibly fragile home

that never does fall down

after all

after anything

alone

among many people

a child would say something akin to. . . "mama, what does it mean to be done?"

she asks

    to begin again

before it even ends

           again

for the first time

        (alive people know f**k all)

          about death

(insert obfuscation)

                              children are brilliant

and grieving ruins it

                       time leaves us no choice

but to lie about it

               so...

"darling, it means to start again."

(eventually)

                  or never

*cheers to lyin' to her ; )*

opening line takes me right in ..house of cloth and glass .. mixed with the faeries ... how wonderfully brave children are ..well put says i! without obfuscation ;) thinking of how children grieve is heart wrenching ..hard enough for adults to cope ..i remember clearly when one of my buddy's Dad died (around the 4-5th grade) it was sudden ..unexpected .. an Italian family the "after funeral" was held at his home .. i felt so helpless .. did not know what to say to him .. so i didn't say anything ..when i looked to the adults for some kind of guidance i thought they were all as helpless as myself ..only they made vain attempts at consoling cliche' ... i love how you lift up the children in this poem ..and that it deals with death and dying ... we don't "know" what happens after death .. it remains the domain of Faith alone ;) and Janis is one of my top favorite blues singer ...

Janis Joplin made some damn fine music before she left. I'm glad you enjoyed this.
