Horror the Movie

Horror the Movie

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

. i'd call it freestyle if had any at all

"
there is a part of us crying
out for the monster within

hence the success of the horror movie genre

and there is another part
begging for the hero to become us

hence the idealization and white washing
of past leaders before us
and the success of the super hero genre

so,
my favorite movies are black comedies
and all the stylized blunders. . .
they seem so much more real to me than any superman
wolverine or batman

and I don't hate to admit that
that would be hubris
and another blind spot inherent to my nature

it's impossible to respect yourself until you grow teeth
and it's impossible to be kind until you understand your own folly
in the use of those teeth

what's funnier than a masterful blunder?
it's easier to acknowledge our faults
when we laugh at ourselves

refinement can be funny

pride can be for cowards
those who won't look at themselves

it's all kinda funny
if you let it
and tragic
cause it has to be

finding yourself in mistake
if you can take it
not so seriously

it's enlightening

the other's pure madness
avoiding the horror inside
avoiding everything
in particular, self refinement
as if we're already perfect

this poem is gayer than AIDS
