all the evidence

things we let touch us

you cannot own

anything

you exist with me

we small parts of everything

True enough. Actually it's the sense of owning that causes all the trouble. And not just things. Ideas and beliefs too. People are so threatened to lose what they own when they don't own a thing.

And that's how it should be, I guess. We seem to be fixated on this "owning" thing and we forget that we are just, well, human.

Possession as we know it today, I think, is nothing more than a evolutionary trait distorted into something else after society made things physically easier for the human species. Though to be fair, making an objective standard for owning property is an extremely simple way to avoid constant violence from stronger individuals. The meek and weak are allowed to survive because that type of strength has been collectively taken from the individual and collectively given to the state. I may not sound like it but I do think civilization is a good thing.

I don't know if I would place the word "possession" on an evolutionary context, but I get your point and to some extent I agree. On the other, I myself think civilization on the whole has made things worse than they were (again as a general image, since it has certainly helped us a lot too).

Evolution is possession. A possession of efficient means of obtaining energy, passing on and keeping what works, letting die what does not. I'm not using "possession" in terms of our social understanding, it goes way beyond gender or class.... way way way far far far beyond all of that.

I think the nice thing about humanity is that it is experienced subjectively, objective reality is not a real thing to conscious things. "the world does not exist as it is, the world exists as we are" I don't remember who said that... someone smarter than me
