Between the Living

Between the Living

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

don't you know Dionysius?

immortalized in finite rock and stone

the earth party

waiting to burn

immortal in spirit with depths

yet to be known

like the madness under grass; dr dirt and sir gravel

above magma and mr mantle

but first...

let's not get ahead of ourselves

there are myriad celebrations

of worms and their digesting's

don't you know death, the beginning?

dr realizer of all pressures

it's how Apollo gets forgotten

dissolved

into flora into fauna

into rotting

what's for dinner

for the great bug hug by the billions

a composting

a great gathering

of earth parties

all waiting for you

simply

to fall to pieces

into earth

into reason

into winter

lightly seasoned

Ah this is the poem I was talking about...(you probably don't remember...lol) I've read it a few times and am still not so sure. You've penned a few pieces recently that have a Greek mythology theme. I hold the view that it could be about greed consumption and death...

I had been drinking when I wrote this one... I'm not even sure what I'm talking about in that.

I'm sensing the speech of what's being experienced during ones own realization of mortality and eventual death in this one. Not just in the literal sense but in the social one as well. But then again, poems are generally what the reader tends to take away as much as what the author is trying to say.

Lol. Well like I said, sometimes it's what your readers can take away from it too, that matters.

That'll have to do I suppose.
Not too shabby for someone who wrote this when drinking! xD. I rather enjoyed it. I might just share it with my mythology class Monday, if you don't mind. :) We mainly focus on Greco-Roman.

This feels like it could be connected to your earlier write 'houses under the sea'. Or maybe just the line about the fauna makes me think that. Check your spelling of 'imortal', 5th line. Also, big hug by the billions sounds better to me, was that a typo??? I think you could have done more with Dionysus... In relation to societies vices, drugs and alcohol etc. I don't know... Just my thoughts.

I don't know about this one either.
That was great. I enjoyed the imagery you provided, as well as all the metaphors for death made it such a pleasure to read! phrases such us 'bug hug by the billions', 'lightly seasoned' provide a sense of dark humour to the whole poem, making it even better. Very good!
