My Gullet

My Gullet

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

Half strangled in comfort

My thought in a gut

Insight abrasive

Hard digested

Caustic and burning

Like vomit

My gullet feels this place

Intimately

Heaving fountains of passion

Grace rising abrasive

New fire from burned

Rapacious and repetitive

This happened before

It will so happen again

I give you the fuel

You show me the fire

Making warmth as it goes

As we share in the burden

Scaling cliffs as we are

We shall not dizzy

No not us

As there is no success

Like there never was failure

Just a walk through a thing

Feeling our way

Up a rock down a valley

Until you die

And I follow you after

I bury the past

Without dreams I won't worry

The world was your nightmare

What you made of it your paradise

Without belief we see more

Without faith we go further

All questions can be answered

Just not in a lifetime

Just not in one body

So I am the rock

So the world will climb me

To show all that I need

Before it all ends

When here tells me to leave

So another begins

In the place we made home

A tribute to Merton?
Although I'm not religious I do admire that he tried to build bridges between his and others.
It's a good poem
