Scorched Earth

Scorched Earth

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future but today is a gift. That's why they call it the present. -- Bill Keane

"

forget today

be in love with tomorrow

in a way only a day away could be

idealized away into an imagined ether

fantasized as a future that cannot be

anything other than hoped for

until some present fades to black

for another present to burn

for the love of tomorrow

ok ... well it's a heck of a fantasy let me assure you ... ah tomorrow will be great, it's fast approching and I have no idea on how I'm a gonna get to where I need to be, but heck, you are right this fantasy is worth every last whimper and shiver ...

what is it they say? be careful what you wish for, ahh well I shall not be careful, tomorrow's fantasy can materialise before me, such is the power I posses, and then maybe, tomorrow I will move on, but probably I will be too caught up enjoy the conjured present

*mental note ... allow time tomorrow to conjure the next

clever words ... I particularly like 'until some present fades to black' ... made me stop and ponder

Ahh - there is nothing like "what could be".
Hope is what drives us. Actually, I think it is probably one of our survival instincts. We would die without the hope of tomorrow.
Nice poem.
