Highland Paraphernalia

Highland Paraphernalia

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

.Roland of Gilead.

"

what is an internet friend?

outside of flesh

anon

and endlessly dark

an obscured identity

with a twist

it is nothing

it is not to be known

to talk to an avatar

something

deeply in hiding

what's more than that

it could always be a hollow place

full of hollow men

the wretched men

clothed and bathed

before dinner

before the oh so viscous tasting

of blood brooding

conflict aged

and delicious

hunters hunting hunters

to the bitter end

i will see you on the other side

in Valhalla.... we shall dine

and laugh at all of it

together

"where wars leave their warriors"

it's a strange thing me thinks when people wish to take on themselves with an avatar, and yet it is happening more and more and more with the internet age ... it is hiding isn't it, kind of like recoiling back even further into the ethnosphere of lies and miscommunication. I made a deal with myself some years back, that was to be free, as me, yeah little old me. People take me or leave me and that's totally cool, there's already enough predetermined and seemingly indeterminable chaos in this world for me to live a lie and pretend I am somebody else. The internet has given voice to those who were probably voiceless before they had their own channel to promote themselves, I just feel sorry for the naive suckers who get reeled right in ....

your writing always has a certain depth to it, which is great, means I am not reading yet another 'boohoo my boyfriend left, or boobloodyhoo the world is stacked against me' I would however, like to see some punctuation - yes yes I like to be told when to stop and breathe .... ;)

and yes, if you save me a seat in Valhalla, a long island iced tea will be my preferred beverage ...

I admire your commitment to being free by the way... it's a hard deal to make with one's self.

Thanks ana...
I liked it, especially the first part. Internet friends aren't something poems are usually written about, so it's quite unique!

It's just not common here. You should write something even better on the topic. My views are skewe.. read more

I like this poem a lot. The way you create a sense of uncertainty as to who is an internet friend is perfect.

Thanks H. What does the H stand for? Heroin? Herpes? Hecate? Hipster?

It stands for Harper- although it may as well stand for hipster.
