Disneyfied

.the horror.

some angry adults come from lied to children

kids over nourished on milquetoast cultural diets

bullshit and butterflies, flowers from liars

paid for by cowardly parents

contrived off bullshit half-truths

exagerations even at times absolute lies

it's an entire industry for hire, babysiting by captivating

with disneyfied stories of bad things, awful things

cartooning reality

resolved ever so nicely about 90 minutes at a time

(maybe less)

but one day billy or betty starts finding their own things

begins to see a world naked and undisneyfied

what becomes clear

that flowers and butterflys don't last, often times get smashed

used, and unceremoniously discarded

they see behind some masks finding what lurks to be true horror

cold and ferocious

pretending it's not makes you a fool

makes you a liar makes you a cowardly lion

pretending for others makes it much worse

disappointment and anger soon to follow

I can totally relate to this poem because Growing Up on Disney and in finding out the real fairy tale versions that were darker is really disappointing thing that crushes me when I found out about the real thing. So to raise up kids in this big fantasy is really confusing because in the end they are harsh realities in this world that we have to face. So instead of pretending to live in this fantasy world why can't we just change the coolness of the world into a better place? People don't realize that they are the change the world and instead of running away from the coolness of the world and letting the darkness persist by running into a fantasy dream the world can be changed.
