Who Are You Supposed to Be

Who Are You Supposed to Be

A Poem by Davidgeo
"

"look at me now a man who won't let himself be" - Alice in Chains

"

We should feel guilty

For kicking ourselves in the teeth

Do you do that?

The refinement;

The one and only

Great loss of control

Can you do that?

Softly spoken fury

Dead in the name

Weightless sans shame

The hourglass breaks again

A single grain at a time

Into caskets

Hate filled reservoirs

Are you here?

There; maybe elsewhere

Maybe it doesn't really matter

As we all go

Guilty of burning it all

Losing a soul too soon

To the name of betrayal

So breathing becomes betrayal

Shame breaks down and here we are

Holding dead flowers

Mourning forgotten reservoirs

Life breaks down and here we are

Holding lit candles for the dead

When all I want to do is die

Instead

"Down in a hole

Feeling so small"
