I tend to go back and read folks older material. If Poe were alive today, and we began reading his material as of now, we would likely miss out on The Raven ... And that is what I look for: gems written way back when ...

If you go back a few years my success rate tends to drop, but what is good is probably better than what I write now. My "success" rate is higher now... functional mediocrity all the time now.

I do not consider myself a Poet, per se, but I do dabble in putting my thoughts and feelings to page ... To me old fart mind, Poetry can be beautiful and it can be ugly, it can be panoramic and mysterious, and it can be like reading the daily news ... But it is never to be entertainment, because such a concept is a slap in the face to any Poet ... I write mostly ugly a*s Poetry that carries with it, my persosnal viewpoint's message. I am highly opinionated, speak my mind, whilst also respecting the views and beliefs of others as the Human Beings that they are same as me. Though I don't believe in the God of Organized Religion, I will fight for Freedom of Religion for all those that do: The right to Religious belief, expression, and practice is never to be denied, banned, or outlawed, as is, neither, the right to not believe, because our common Humanity is more important than any other belief that we could ever hold sacred ... Yeah, I live alone, no wife, a widower, and when get the chance to vent my pent up thoughts and feelings, I turn her loose upon poor, unsuspecting good folks like you ... LOL!

What I liked about it was the context, a very real one may I say, this poem speaks about a truth many desire to hide from, and the shortness of it made it (to my perspective) direct, honest and truly beautiful
