Albinism

Albinism

A Poem by Samantha
"

I have pale blue eyes and light brown hair . I have albinism.

"

Living life with little fear
Although death from skin cancer is quite near
I love to watch people talk
Even though you’re not always clear

Light brown hair
Pale blue eyes
Makes all the boys drop like flies
As I walk down the halls, insecurity clear
People’s harsh comments hit me like spears

Honestly, why do I listen?
I wonder aloud
As their cruel words
Drench me like a cloud
Why do I wear glasses?
Why can’t I read small type?
I wait as Middle school slowly passes

I just smile
And try to ignore
As I receive what I’ve been waiting for
The smiles of others
Whom I love
For I know that God has sent me this gift
From above

I try to teach
I try to reach

Though some stay dumb
I don’t care
For there will always be people waiting
There
To hug
And laugh
And tell me they’re here

People I love are always near

As I live my life without a fear
