Thank You Daddy

i remember your smile,

you laugh and your gaze,

i remember your love,

i remember those days,

id fall off my bike,

hit ground with a cry,

youd run and pick me up,

and give out a sigh,

id swing and miss the ball,

youd stand up and cheer,

when everyone else rolled there eyes with a sneer,

id fail with a D,

youd stay up with me all night,

we'd study till morning,

youd say to improve you must fight,

you were always there,

through good and through bad,

though worse seemed to control,

you were never mad,

how you were so strong,

i have no clue,

how i am so lucky,

luck had nothing to do,

and no matter how bad,

how sick or disappointing,

you always listened and cared,

you always prayed and you were always hopeing,

and yet i still call you,

with news now and then,

and you quietly listen,

and then help you lend,

and even when i called you,

with news far the worst,

your last breath was to help me,

and out of my eyes the tears burst,

because just then i realized,

how long it had been,

since i fell off that bike,

when i was a kid,

and how i never said 'thank you',

just this little rhyme,

but now its too late,

we've run out of time,

so now i write,

with tears and hope that is new,

that you will be able to hear this,

and daddy, thank you. i love you.
