Forgotten

Forgotten

A Poem by Lisa Victoria
"

"For my grandmother...who fought long and hard for all of us"

"
Forgotten

She stares at her reflection
unknown for many years
but for the eyes
which remain vibrant still

Ragged seams sew her story
of a long and tired life...
of births and deaths
of wars, not yet won

She has fought long and hard
for everyone...
Still, no one can tell her story
for she is gone...

this poem really resonates within me, because my own grandmother used to tell me stories and experiences, many of which I never truly understood until much later.. this poem has a very good flow, and I love the concepts it conveys... your poem is very insightful - i love that about it. thank you so much for sharing the poem... and remember that this poem is proof that your grandmother is not forgotten at all ;) and she would have been so glad and proud that you've dedicated the poem to her... well done :)

Thank you Shiggy:)
This is a subject I am too familiar with, having worked a few years as a CNA in a nursing home. I met a lot of wonderful elderly people during that time, and took care of them until they died.

Having said that, what you have written here is a solid bullseye. The rhythm and flow work excellently, and the core of this is nothing more than a solid truth that few can truly appreciate. I do. Thank you for sharing this.

very poignant Lisa.....It is true that the old hold so many secrets within themselves which may never be known....I often think that we should all keep life diaries....in order that our children might be able to understand our pains and pleasures

I like the depth in this. In so few words you entice the mind to create her journey. There's a lot of heart in this piece, which I both love and respect. Very well done Lisa!
