Her secrets hidden...she retreats from the world to suffer in silence..
Silent Screams Her heart aches from deep within despair draws closer threatens to take her away forever Her silent cries muffled behind closed doors Her anguish non-apparent to the world She crumbles to the floor her body limp and lifeless except for the shudders that shake her battered soul She clutches her fists crimson tears flow from her hands threaten to reveal her hidden secrets Morning dawns... She lifts her tired, worn, body from the cold, hard, floor Another night has passed Her secret's safe for yet one more day She puts on her disguise and opens the door A muse...fake and painted smiling for the world... yet, dead to herself
A deeply striking piece, and a topic that I can easily relate to. You captured the essence of the damage of both being stuck in that mind set and the recurring pain of continuing to hide your soul and self, a vicious cycle of emotional torture. Very vivid images came to mind. very nicely written!

I could put myself in this poem, because this was me as well. Growing up with a dad who was less than a desirable one; I would put on a fake smile, and act happy; sometimes even around him, when inside, I just wanted to scream, holler, and cry. I enjoyed this!!! The thing I love about dark poetry is that it allows us to dig deep and pull out those deep secrets that have been festering for years. It allows us writers to express our hurt and pain through our words on paper that we may never be able to say to the people it needs to be said to.

Yes, exactly! Thank you so much for your reviews, they are much appreciated:)
This is such a relatable poem! I liked how you call her soul 'battered', it added a level of complete desperation to the character. Its comforting to know there are other people out there who feel and can write about this kind of intense sadness. Lying on the floor during the night just because you are feeling so much emotion struck a nerve for me and I feel like its almost speaking a hidden secret; people don't usually describe their experiences like that with such honesty and I think you have really done it well. I liked how I felt a connection with how you said about a secret in the poem and I think the emotions you write about can often be portrayed as a secret within society, nobody wants to admit to this level of anguish, well done to you for capturing it beautifully!

Thank you for your inspiring words.....they mean a lot to me:)
thank you so much for sharing this poem... the use of imagery is so powerful. i found it really reached my heart, and writing that can touch people's hearts is both true and emotional. i also found that the crossing out of the title "silent screams" added a whole new layer of meaning to the poem.
i found that i could also relate to the part "she puts on a disguise and opens the door..." because i find that sometimes, i can't share my inward pains with others so i put on a smile "fake and painted". that, i think, was what made this poem especially powerful for me.
well done :)

My passion from an early age was always reading.... getting lost and transformed into another time or place by words so cleverly placed.... this passion transformed to writing with passion and persona.. more..
