Silence Does

Silence Does

A Poem by TheNewerLisa
"

s i l e n c e

"

Phone doesn’t ring
   Shouldn’t it be ringing?
Stomach in knots
   Time is passing
Forgotten again?

Hope wells up
Then slowly dies down
Phone doesn’t ring.
Silence descends.

Imagination unleashed
   Scenarios of loss
You can’t forgive me
   Too soon to know me
Only just started.

Phone doesn’t ring
   Only takes five minutes
Make the connection
   Or is our connection
Already dead?

Time is passing
Can’t forget
But forgotten
Phone doesn’t ring
Silence does.
