The Woman's Curse

The Woman's Curse

A Poem by TheNewerLisa
"

What Goes Unsaid Gets Undone

"

Hold your tongue girl
You better hold your tongue
And don’t let it show, no.
Don’t let it out
And now it’s hot, boiling, seething,
Bubbling burning under your skin
But don’t you dare
Let him be aware
How you feel.

Keep control girl
You better keep control
So when the phone rings
Don’t answer.
Don’t let him know
You must be plucking, tweezing,
Toenail painting hair washing
Vacuuming and dusting
But don’t you dare
Let him be aware
That you’re at home.

That’s why they built the mall
And your MasterCard’s sky high
To keep your mind off
The feelings you must deny.
Until it’s hot, boiling, seething,
Bubbling burning under your skin
But don’t you dare
Let him be aware
That you care
No you can’t share
That you love him.

indeedo, I often think the same from the male perspective...It seems to work for the best that way. this is a really fun topic and you've captured it's essence well. It falls under the category of things we must learn...and we cannot be warned enough! Super
