Settle Up

Settle Up

A Poem by TheNewerLisa
"

Confusion Sometimes Reigns

"

I’ve heard all the talk
It’s been going around
About settling up
And settling down
And right now I wonder
How it’s going to be
When it all comes down
Must I settle for me?

And when my time comes
For the Lord to receive me
When I tell Him my story
Do you think He’ll believe me?

That I thought I was smart,
That I had a good heart.
Didn’t drink too much booze
Wore great shoes.
Played a straight game
Honored my name
Still true to my calling
I found myself falling
For you.

A change of place?
Out of love’s rat race
I’ll learn how to cook
Won’t worry how I look
With my nose stuck into
The latest great book.

Cooking, cooking, booking, booking,
Still looking, looking, looking
For you.
So settle up.
