Padua

Padua

A Story by LisaButterfly

Padua
Elegant and spiritual
The city of rivers and canels
I wondered if my Nonna Stella and Nonno Attilio walking in the same streets as I received a blessing and pondered at Donatello's black Madonna and child at the Basilica de San Antonio
A place of pilgrimage
I watched an old man ride a bike
I wondered if my Nonna nought bread at the same place and how lovely this city is
I drank the freshly squeezed pomegranate juice as I walked past Cafe de Petrocci
A cafe without doors
Open all night for thinkers and anyone interested in conversations about life and the stars
A place students uprose against fascism and where Galileo Galilei may have spoken with Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia, the first woman to get a philosophy degree
I bought rosary beads whilst passing by the orphans hospice run by Benedictine monks
Beautiful you have been
Padua
