Kite Bearer

Kite Bearer

A Poem by LisaButterfly

I always wondered why the kite flew
I wondered how it made a gentle flutter when the storms came
I wondered if the kite would dance to impress the Northern sky
And it if wanted to fly
If it wanted to surrender
I wondered if it made gentle sounds against the resistant breeze
And if it marvelled at the shadows it made upon the open field below
I wondered what views it had from up above
Did the evergreen trees retain their bold shapes?
Was it witness to the triangular shapes made by the travelling birds?
Did it notice the sparrows collecting twigs in the neighbourhoods below
Did it notice me?
I thought about the time it felt defeated or was defeated
I wondered it if ever wanted to be let go
If it wanted to run
I wondered if if ever reached the Sun
