Eurocentric worldA Poem by LisaButterfly
We are living in a Eurocentric world
And I am a Eurocentric girl Our souls reduced to matter No songs No gatherings No harmony Just chatter chatter I've seen Families behind locked doors And Teenagers wanting more and more I've seen parents not knowing what to believe And Baptising their children whilst rejecting Adam and Eve In this matrix Celebrities are the lords Waxed in Madam tussauds Did you know that human zoos existed in Europe Where brown people were put in cages right beside the birds And when questioned that that is wrong the answer is masked in words Where new zoos exist now The bars not thin The only difference is the cages are within Locked behind picked fences No amount of fancy resorts Or Material possessions Can take the place of human senses As the Tyrants lead and the homeless bleed See I have walked these streets I've seen neglected Children lighting fires I've seen orphans weep And heard lonely people cry themselves to sleep Ive seen single mothers sell themselves And ministers from Eritrea staking shelves I've seen spinsters give up And businessmen choke up I've seen them mock our Prophets to fill our pockets Enjoying this life as if it were a playground Tourist resorts built on lands lost not found Where's doggie beauty parlours Take over bookstores where cages birds raw and fish in fish bowls never reach the shore Where people change their names To play the game Where those who are eager to work will never eat in dining halls The glass ceiling is made of shards And peaceful protests are surrounded by guards We are living in a Eurocentric world And I longer want to be a Eurocentric girl © 2016 LisaButterfly |
