Dancing by Firelight

A Poem by DancingbyFirelight

Humming my own secret tune,

I close my eyes

and my mind wanders

farther then before

Crowds, I expected.

But silence? No

I try to get away

Darkness has me in its grip and

It's not letting go.

I try to scream,

I try to fight

But to no avail.

I go limp, as once again,

Darkness concures all

A little light,

no bigger then a firefly

flutters by my ear

It whispers in a secret tongue

Then, like that,

I'm free.

The spark, it leads me to a place

That's green and lush and pure

No fears threaten,

Though I'm all alone

The lantern is well lite

My heart, it soars

as the flame leaps higher

Brighter then the sun

I close my eyes,

and let myself go

As I Dance by Firelight

This was a very peaceful and serene poem, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I found it easy to follow also, through the different landscapes, i.e the crowd, the darkness, the spark of light, the green, lush area, and then finally I found myself visualizing a roaring fire, which to me symbolized life.
