Maninina

Maninina

A Poem by liquidlandmine
"

Maninina is our local term for a kind of serpent, yellow in the bottom and black on top; which is found mostly in marshes, and is known to be venomous. It is different from a basilisk which usually inhabits ponds.

"

Lightning rapes the heavens

Whose only want is to kiss the earth;

Earth that sucks deep the rain

Towards the fragrance of drought

Which revokes and restores

The strength of the mountains

And the health of the vines;

Vines which sweats the bloody liquor

Whose sweetness ends in virgin lips;

The lips which in due time

And in cacophony,

Will bloom in the heavens;

Where flowers are speared by thunders

And raped by lightning.
