Take Me Tenderly

Take Me Tenderly

A Poem by Linda Marie Van Tassell

Should I tell you, or should I have you guess?
Will you give me your all and nothing less?
From penciled shadows and the great heart's ache,
a long-stemmed lily rises from the lake.

She is sprinkled with rain, like loosened pearls,
luminescent and bright, shimmering swirls.
Sweet prismatic orbs of rainbow and light,
unstrung on the flesh of innocent white.

The soft wings of her face reach for the sun.
Volumes of rhapsody are bound in one.
With a hopeful heart and a raindrop sigh,
I look for his image across the sky.

The love of my life, the one who will be,
a strong man who will take me tenderly
and lead me to follow his gentle guide,
like a lily upon the eventide.

About
Poetry has been my passion since I was about fifteen years old, and I love the structure of rhyme and meter moreso than just randomly throwing words upon a page without any form whatsoever. Whi.. more..
