Rock of Thor

Rock of Thor

A Poem by Linda Marie Van Tassell

You are dark and mysterious,
with a heart of scholared creeds.
You are strong and impervious
like a rock among the reeds.

You are resolute and anguished,
telling your soul through your skin,
with a heart maligned and languished
by the suffering of men.

You battle daily with the world
like a soldier in a war,
with a flag of love unfurled -
your allegiance to the core.

A salacious soul in waiting,
walking down the broken rows,
your spirit illuminating
in the truth of rhyme and prose.

A sweet anthem flows forever
in your blood and through your veins,
like a sun shining ever
through the clouds and mist and rains.

A poet bound by earthly pen,
with a heart of love unseen,
a mortal angel marked by sin,
with white wings crushed inbetween.

You are like twilight in the sky,
a mix of both day and night.
You are a wind-cloud drifting by
meant to touch but out of sight.

Your legs are Gibraltar towers
lifting you up evermore.
Though grounded among the flowers,
you are strength - the Rock of Thor.

About
Poetry has been my passion since I was about fifteen years old, and I love the structure of rhyme and meter moreso than just randomly throwing words upon a page without any form whatsoever. Whi.. more..
