Made of SkyA Poem by Linda Marie Van Tassell
Caged in the poet's lonely heart
is a bird that aches to be free. She yearns to lift her wings in flight and to trill from the highest tree. Her night black eyes are tiny, small; but she sees what others cannot. She dares to dream beyond the clouds and to capture what time forgot. Her pretty song is summer sweet, emotes what some cannot express. As sunbeams dance through rainbow glass, she is bathed in bacchanal dress. She loves the warmth, its golden glow, the morning mist and sunset spread, purple twilight of Sultan's sail, and the cusp of reddening red. Fancy fondly fetches her heart, takes her to lands and times unknown. From mountaintops and desert sands, to ocean billows, she has flown. Snowcap summits and dancing streams are suffused with mellow Merlot. The slender threads that chain the mind are destined to never let go. The poet's heart will always dream. Birds will always desire to fly, and the summer breeze lifts them both. The heart's temple is made of sky. © 2008 Linda Marie Van TassellReviews
