Morning Breaks

Morning Breaks

A Poem by Linda Marie Van Tassell

Sunlight lays down upon the sheet
beside me, the softest rose
color that shimmers light and sweet,
becoming a hotter flame as it grows.
I turn into the garden where roses grow,
feeling the dew as it descends.
I drift in and out of dream's flow
and hope this moment never ends.
Yet, morning breaks the dreams apart,
the wonder of daylight to bring,
trying its best to warm my heart
with songs the bluebirds sing.

I do not care to rise and eat.
I do not want to think.
I close my eyes to quaint retreat
and part my lips to drink.
I taste the river of passion's flow.
I hear your melodious song.
I only want to let you know
that my feelings are very strong.

I open my eyes to Aurora's gem.
She wears the brightest, sparkling crown.
She hangs the heaven, a diadem,
with her rubies melting down.
Her tender lips kiss my brow;
and I faint, kissed by the Queen.
My cheeks are jeweled, glowing now,
the most beautiful sight ever seen.

She paints herself upon sparkling glass
and spreads her seductive wings.
The little birds, the clouds all pass.
She plucks the heart's subtle strings.
I glide, an angel, loving him,
dancing in memories draped with gold.
I dance the dance, dance the dim,
then return to days of old.

I welcome the memories of joy and mirth.
Love was once a dream of ours.
We scattered its fragrance among the earth
and planted the sweet, blooming flowers.
Yet, morning breaks the dreams apart,
the wonder of daylight to bring,
trying its best to warm my heart
with songs the bluebirds sing.

About
Poetry has been my passion since I was about fifteen years old, and I love the structure of rhyme and meter moreso than just randomly throwing words upon a page without any form whatsoever. Whi.. more..
