Undertow

Undertow

A Poem by Linda Marie Van Tassell

I see the dark flag of night unfurl
and wrap around the moon's gentle glow,
which hangs in the sky like a white pearl
tugging at the earth, which pulls below.

Obsequious night is brushed with curves,
and I can hear my true love calling
in sinuous sweep and supple swerves
of cosmic tides rising and falling.

Winds kiss the waves, his breath on my skin.
Waves to the shore, his lips on my breast.
Pulled from without and pulled from within,
I feel the gravity manifest.

Love is a current, an undertow,
the wellspring of life in alchemy.
It's the sunrise splendor afterglow,
the sharp blade of light that slits the sea.

Deep is the night but deeper the love.
It's a current of soul-stirring bliss.
Open to all and unfurled above,
love is a flag that no one should miss.

About
Poetry has been my passion since I was about fifteen years old, and I love the structure of rhyme and meter moreso than just randomly throwing words upon a page without any form whatsoever. Whi.. more..
