Bluebonnets and Prairie-FireA Poem by Linda Marie Van TassellA day without sunshine is like, you know, the night. ~ Steve MartinYou are planted far away in fields of bonnets blue with Indian blankets and prairie-fires bursting through. You paint the world as though it shines livelier than light with rays of sun and auroral hues flaming ever bright. Dawning days and endless waves come flowing from your pen. I think the muse has found a home within your demesne. Your gentle heart, its happy beat, offers grace and love, a cosmic drink, a steady blink of starlight above. I envy you for the smiles, for all the shine you keep. The moonlight kisses you throughout the night as you sleep. Morning rises with you, blooming daylight in your eyes. Tenderly you unfold open fields and open skies. Your poetry is a spark, a gentle nudge of flame. To burn it down or never know it would be a shame. Your inner fire, your heart’s desire, becomes such a glow, a gleaming pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Like wildflower impressions, your poems are so sweet, petals blowing in the wind to nestle at my feet. Bluebonnets and prairie-fire and blankets to the moon. A gray mockingbird is singing its fly-away tune. © 2023 Linda Marie Van TassellAuthor's NoteReviews
