Everything Is Nothing To Me (Quatern)

Everything Is Nothing To Me (Quatern)

A Poem by Linda Marie Van Tassell
"

My room is so quiet and empty, it hurts. ~ Nina LaCour

"

Everything is nothing to me.

I am forever standing still.

I loved, but it was not to be.

Now I no longer have the will.

I hold my breath and close my eyes.

Everything is nothing to me.

The heart beats on but slowly dies

like a river en route to sea.

I always thought that love was free,

but I have been robbed of all gold.

Everything is nothing to me.

It’s all too tarnished to be sold.

I have less than nothing to give

so I give nothing but this plea.

I want no more this life to live.

Everything is nothing to me.

A beautiful write
; it’s very distressing when one feels so alone that the word nothing is so colorless; that there is such a void in one’s life….that one has no idea of life itself and how rewarding it is to be a part of it; I like the way you compare and contrast nothing with everything…and where this person stands on the spectrum….and the structure of the poem is stunning….

I love the natural flow of your poem, it reads so much like a song. I too understand what it feels like to lose someone who you thought you loved but it turned out to be something else, or maybe that person didn't see you the same way you saw them. It's heartbreaking and it hurts, but this poem speaks so many emotional volumes and really hits home with me. I like your poetry by the way, it reminds me of my own.

A mesmerizing vision for your presentation of words most gifted in verse. I can almost breathe in the evocative nature of this one, Linda.

The ambience of the author's note was lovely. I simply wanted to linger there.

This one has the sound of depression to it. It appears an instance of faithlessness in the past has shaped a worldview that persists. The speaker seems frozen in time and is waiting for the sands to run out. A sad situation to be sure, but responses to traumas are an individual matter.

Such a sad and desolate piece...the loneliness is felt so strongly that my hearts beats faster as I read it, my arms long to reach out and comfort the writer, my eyes get a bit misty and my mind wanders to the what ifs that must be floating about. To feel this alone...your poem is powerful, your pen even more so. Sadly beautiful Linda Marie.

this is so beautiful, so sad.
reminds me of Genesis' "Lonely Man on the Corner"

"Looking everywhere at no one, he sees everything and nothing at all"---
Your accompanying picture reminds me of Vince Guaraldi's "Cast your Fate to the Wind"---
perfect...like the poem.

About
Poetry has been my passion since I was about fifteen years old, and I love the structure of rhyme and meter moreso than just randomly throwing words upon a page without any form whatsoever. Whi.. more..
