Cora Louise (Gratitude)

Cora Louise (Gratitude)

A Poem by Linda Marie Van Tassell
"

In Memory of Cora Louise (Snavely) Linkous – 1948 – 2023 (age 74)

"

A mother’s love is all encompassing,

a gentle flower in the hand of God.

She is a refuge, a rock, a blessing,

a warrior woman with a soft façade.

She is a beacon of promising light,

a tender wind that is blowing proud.

She is a mountain, the zenith and height.

She is the sunlight on sails of a cloud.

She is the beginning of everything

loomed in the lacing of life’s filigree,

born of the heavens and given her wing

to sow and harvest the future to be.

She is the sky with a thousand stars.

She is the cradle of sacred divine.

She wears the shadow of so many scars.

She is a vessel, a tribute, a shrine.

She is a river, the wellspring of life.

She is a goddess of beauty and grace.

She is the freedom from discord and strife.

She is the love that you see on her face.

She is a whisper from God to your ear,

words that are fleeting, with delicate ease.

She is the treble, a sweet bird to hear,

a beautiful mantra:  Cora Louise.

May you rest in peace, sweet Cora.  I am so, so sorry, Pete.

I doubt many mothers have received such beautiful, moving tributes as this one. The rhyming and imagery are outstanding throughout. Cora Louise must have been an exceptional person to have called forth these words from the poet.

a stunning tribute to mothers, but especially to Cora Louise, a mother of all mothers.... you put her on a pedestal of such Godliness; the beauty of your words so transparent, so honest,, so personal....
makes this poem a treasure to remember.
Excellent work

Such a beautiful and heart touching tribute to one I assume was a friend. A beautiful soul that I am sure is deserving of the amazing poem you have created in her memory. Wonderfully crafted my friend.

A Mother's love is all encompassing... like the Song of a Bird at Dawn...
She will always be an Angel that flies to your every need. A beautiful Tribute
to share... tenderly, Pat

You've written a great tribute to your friend. Every life is a spirit and I'm sure hers is home in a better place and waiting for others. Just looking at her pictures you can tell she was a friendly and generous soul.

The picture above and the accompanying music are perfect additions to the poem.

Great poem, Linda.
