Wear You

Wear You

A Poem by Linda Marie Van Tassell
"

The true majesty of love.

"

I long to wear you like a softly-scented cologne,

to smell your essence around me when I'm all alone,

to inhale you with each breath from the moment I wake,

to taste you on the wind with every step I take.

I long to wear you like a satin or velvet glove,

to run your hands across my skin, yearning for your love,

feel you play my body like a harpist on his strings,

lightly touching my flesh with the brush of angel wings.

I long to wear you like a sparkling golden band,

always look upon you like a jewel on my hand,

see the star-light in your eyes as you look up to me

and know that you are exactly where you long to be.

I long to wear you like honeyed sunlight in my hair,

to feel your touch upon me, your kisses in the air,

to have you wash over me like a wave from the sea

and to feel your wet tongue as it savors all of me.

I long to wear you like the joyous curve of my smile,

to wear you like the laughter which echoes all the while,

to dissolve in the mist of you, the beat of your heart,

to wear you like a cloud-veil whenever you depart.

I long to wear you like azure heaven wears the sun,

to follow the paths you take wherever you might run,

to blossom in your love-light shining sweet and divine,

to simply be your shadow and know that you are mine.

I long to wear you like tender twilight wears a star,

to wear you like a dream come true in all that you are,

wear you every day and night, never to be shed,

to wear you like a comforter draped across my bed.

I long to wear you like a ribbon that tops a gift,

wear you like a garter belt beneath my satin shift,

wear you like a memory, the echo of a sound,

to wear you like a pretty charm dancing all around.

I long to wear you like the dew-drops on the flower,

to wear your effervescence, your strength and your power,

to wear you like the passion, the breath between a kiss,

to wear you like a love poem written just like this.

You have the voice of a timeless temple goddess.

One is reminded of souls wearing bodies, and the lover amplifying that, to wear the essence of the other, as one.

Your amorous symbiosis is so intent, there can really be no other; "like tender twilight wears a star" is so permeative as to impel pure seamless awareness AS the other, as much as oneself.

Your subhead "The true majesty of love" reminds me of an old romantic ballad of mine called "Let the Majesty." Your "wearing" is nothing less than Love's relationship to Form Itself.

Beautiful.

I agree with everything Ivan has said. This is another simply outstanding poem. I wonder how all your writes are of the highest quality. You are one the best poets I've ever read. And that includes every poet from the Romantic Era.

To think of so many ways in which you can "wear" your lover, is, quite simply, unbelievable! And the conclusion.. is stunning .. "to wear you like a love poem written just like this."

Another one of your poems into my favorites. But I think it is more of a foregone conclusion. Judging by your writes that I've read till now, all of your poems are going into my favorites anyway!

You are officially me favourite poet I have had the pleasure to read as of yet. I simply adore the pictures you paint. The choice of words is exquisite and complimentary to the story. The ideas which you draw from must reside on the bottom of a magic hat, because they are truly enchanting and charismatic.

I give you all the credit you deserve and you will undoubtedly occupy the majority of my favourites list :)

Superbly done!

This is fantasticly exquisite! I love all of the ways to wear a lover! The lines are seemless and timeless to the umpteenth degree. The imagery is superb and startling. This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever read. Thanks for writing this and I hope to read more. :)

Wow, awesome.

I could almost see, feel, touch and smell your poem.

Every line dipped in the juice of beauty and laid down to dry in the beams of love.

And it's been a while since I saw AABB. It's probably the first rhyme scheme that every poet starts off with and yet still, when he grows, he doesn't AABB anymore.. lol.

Keep writing.

To fully experience one's lover with every sense, IN every sense: touch taste, sight--it is a goal everyone yearns for, and so few ever achieve. This is a lovely and a plaintive plea to all who yearn!

the heart forever voyages, longing its compass, always going hOMe -- here you've romaticised this ancient ache to merge with beloved -- the writer is the pen and the words he has caught in the wind, a speaking heart singing a longing tale where there is only one Poem, one Story, one Song -- a conflicted Romanticism as a plaint of Beauty which cannot be captured nor knows any fear yet is neither consummated in passionate embrace, a kissless kiss, a touchless face, so sHe goes to that longing Love that shall ne'er be won, peregrinated to follow an ancient aching heart 'til life is done - in Romantic Mysticism the longing is often an allusion to the ever seeking Heart toward the beloved as the goal is Love, never sated - Oh, to kiss the beloved with the same kiss the beloved kisses me, and in that kiss live an eternity - our hearts know this, Love attracts Love, the secret of the kiss -- and the law of attraction is as above, so in you, as you see Beauty, so it is you, too -- all Lovers invent the Beloved and then the Music, the Poem, the Story is always about that -- the Lover makes the music, the Poem the Story as a texture of that ancient ache, a reality play which changes in innumerable revisions and realizations forever voyaging with the heart as compass - always going, never arrived, real Love is not contrived

Truly? I think this is some of the best work I've read from you yet. I could picture every single breath, touch, and motion. The imagery was unbelievable and flowed perfectly in the midst of everything.
This has to be my favorite of your work.

I think you covered it all... no pun intended on the word "cover." lol Wearing things has never sounded better, and this close embrace of the other is of monumental significance to human love. To love is to feel touched in and out the self. The sentiments in this poem are abstractions engraved in the reality of love relationships. I personally love "the breath between a kiss", and you have surely given me, and your readers alike, a feast for the senses that is both tender and indelible.

Oh magic sweet magic ,it never stops
the words flow so soft,so tender
derives every one crazy at such beauty
I long to wear you like a softly-scented cologne,
to smell your essence around me when I'm all alone,
to inhale you with each breath from the moment I wake,
to taste you on the wind with every step I take.
see the star-light in your eyes as you look up to me
I long to wear you like honeyed sunlight in my hair,
to have you wash over me like a wave from the sea
in the mist of you, the beat of your heart to dissolve ,
to wear you like a cloud-veil whenever you depart.
I long to wear you like azure heaven wears the sun,
to follow the paths you take wherever you might run
to simply be your shadow and know that you are mine.
I long to wear you like tender twilight wears a star,
wear you every day and night, never to be shed,
oh dear ,is there no end to sweetness,if this is not beauty itself then what is
such love ,i always dreamed of..too strong that one would like to ..
I long to wear you like azure heaven wears the sun,
wear you all the time to feel you ,to never let go,to hold you always by my side
never letting you go ..yes this is how i love, how i know love to be..how sweet

:) Let's get dressed then. lol

Wonderfully penned. Very passionate. Very romantic. The essence of longing, of desire, of lust, of need, and last (but not least), love so deep it can not be truly fathomed. Brilliant. Bravo.
