“I guess we’ll always feel unloved in a deeply abiding way.” ~ Richard
I am pale skin on a canvas of bone painted in corners of tenets and time, grafted to a frame of wood beams and stone in a field of sage, lavender, and thyme.
My eyes are of skies of cornflower blue. My waterfall hair is braided with light, and lashes are tipped with glimmers of dew distilled on the slopes of frangible height.
I lean into the curve of scripted lines, pressed deep in the void of shadowed spirit, and whisper in veins of tenebrous vines hoping someday you will come to hear it.
A water bird glides in hypnotic splay. I pray in a deeply abiding way.
If only life came with musical accompaniment,
would we cry as we looked out the panes?
...or perhaps into them too?
Would we see - really SEE - each the other?
...or perhaps just the "shade" of who we weren't.
I speak toward the movement
behind my eyes
to the being - within yours.

Such lovely, thought-provoking words. You are always so profound. :-)
I find peace and loneliness in this poem, masterfully balanced though. And, the sage lavender and thyme are fragrances and colors the reader can enjoy in words, art and music. I’m left with warmth and hope, and that’s a good takeaway for any poem. A truly enjoyable experience.
Ya know, Linda Marie?
Your masterful use of spellbinding metaphor, seamlessly flowing turns of phrase, and veritably beautiful command of expression, is far beyond the pale of common poetry.
From artwork, to softly-caressing color, and supernal choice of music -- this eye-misting, soul-dancing poem will live within my core forevermore.
You know me, I could wax for pages … let me, instead, bow with great admiration and affection for this rare gift received from one truly loved, adored, admired, and respected.
If I highlighted anything, it would have to be the entire poem and presentation.
Bless you, Linda Marie🌸 and thank you with my full heart for soothing that once lost little boy and girl, so deeply unloved!
After all I've said, this is beautiful beyond mere words, and I'm sure You know, even without them, how I must feel! ⁓ Richard 🍃

A superb sonnet. It's a pleasure to see one written so well The imagery is sublime here and your lines flow like a gentle stream. Sonnets are really difficult to do well. They take great skill, but are so worth the effort.
So inspired by you I have written one myself this morning. First time for years :) Thank you.

i just marvel at poets who can do these beautiful sonnets...and even thought they are that form, making them feel so subtle that the form is hardly noticeable because of the beauty of the content and images.
Not being much of a form fan...because i think it often overrides the themes, I am just blown away when a poet can do this as you have here.
you carried me away, Linda....thank you for that.

Poetry has been my passion since I was about fifteen years old, and I love the structure of rhyme and meter moreso than just randomly throwing words upon a page without any form whatsoever.
