Pale ShadowA Poem by Linda Marie Van TassellI made you my sun, and I became your shadow.I made you my sun, and I became your shadow. You were bound to the heaven’s eternal display. I was a whisper, that whispering, whispered so low that no one noticed when I whispered away.
Insidious ghost! You will not leave me alone. I hold a prayer’s breath in the back of my throat and weep our story as the leaves shrivel and moan. Their skeletal wings sailing on the wind emote.
The space between us is born of departed dreams, an empty bowl of silence now drained of my love, where real is unreal and nothing is what it seems and something borrowed shines on me from up above.
This mortal coil unwinds; I lived the fairytale. I lived to love you for the briefest. Now I die; and ever drawn like sunset, life is ended - pale in plaintive echoes of the shadow of good-bye. © 2017 Linda Marie Van TassellAuthor's NoteReviews
