ResoluteA Poem by Linda Marie Van TassellFinding the strength to overcome the haunts of the past. The rhythm of my heart strokes the sea, and my thoughts soar the sky overhead. There are so many things behind me that still haunt even though they are dead. My footpath is full of fallen stars, the wind and water and whispers too and the broken dreams and battle scars, a trail of tears leading back to you. The mirror reflects the orphaned walls of a childhood poorly attended, the aching soul and neglected calls of a girl with her heart extended. Ashes to ashes and dust to dust. The world can think of me what it will, but I move onward because I must because the heart beats within me still. Clouds billow in their billowy way like the rise of ardent emotion or sunset fires over palm sway setting sail across peaceful ocean. I hunger for a home to hold me where love is lit with a fragrant fire and there’s one to know me and love me where sorrow quenches its vain desire. I watch the light walk upon water that becomes the skin of wrinkled time and the woman that was a daughter trapped like a pearl in a paradigm. If there is life then let me live it, carried like lilac upon the breeze. If there is hope then let me give it in facets of song that grow on trees. © 2015 Linda Marie Van TassellReviews
