The Night Takes Flight

The Night Takes Flight

A Poem by Linda Marie Van Tassell
"

The night takes flight on a blackbird's wing nesting within the curve of my spine.

"

The night takes flight on a blackbird’s wing

nesting within the curve of my spine.

I feel the gentlest fluttering

as though your spirit were touching mine.

Memory shapes the touch of your ghost

like the ocean wind walking the beach

smoother than silk and sweeter than most

transporting whispers just beyond reach.

A breathless breathing and skin on skin

and words without logic start to rise.

I am without you; and you within,

cloaked in the velvet behind my eyes.

The night takes flight on a thunderbolt

and strikes the drum-beat of pouring rain

as clouds and starlight begin to molt

hugging the silence across the plain.

I feel the sad longging on this piece. Being far or having lost a loveone is hard pain on the moments of rain. I thing the memories linger, reminding the love of once was. Very beautiful piece.

very lovely writing...and strangely erotic without even a reference to eroticism

I am without you; and you within,

cloaked in the velvet behind my eyes.

My favorite line here.
A very nice rendering..is it harder at night only because it disturbs your sleep..or because the darkness allows little chance of distraction.?
I enjoyed this !!!
A very nice write.

I love how the night changes as time passes and the loss becomes more profound. I felt the darkness being shaped throughout the entire poem:

The night takes flight on a thunderbolt
and strikes the drum-beat of pouring rain
as clouds and starlight begin to molt
hugging the silence across the plain.

There is loss yet strength in this piece.
