Swan SongA Poem by LinearNot to much of anythingSwans on ponds
Dragonflies in reeds Fish basking in the early morn Of this summers day Birds singing sweet songs As the heat rises Mist is vanquished replaced with the suns haze Small dogs barking, as lawn mowers start working Fragrance of fresh cut grass Is pleasing Scent of colourful flowers all around Bees busy buzzing about their day In no hurry Without any worry Children skipping, laughing, playing; Parents watching, caring Summer fair blairing And the headaches start again Standing up, I see the swan fly as the dragonfly hovers nearby Taking the pistol out Hand clasps firmly, dogs yapping Children shouting Gun now pointing Haze is blinding Finger on trigger as birds sing loudly Gun-shot Silences Blackness envelopes all, peace at last And the swans all laugh © 2011 LinearAuthor's Note
