A Plea for a Heart

A Plea for a Heart

A Poem by Linear
"

It just happens

"

I came softly into your room last night, You were sleeping with your lover, in quiet slumbers, I searched, looked everywhere, beneath the bed, in every draw, Yet I couldn't find it any where. I stopped when i heard you moan, held my breath........waited You sighed and rolled over, arms around your lover, Oh where did you keep it, perhaps locked away? Standing, thinking, I crept up so I was next to your head, I whispered "where is it"? Silent tears ran down my face, my search was my final disgrace

But you must realise I need it back

I'm so tired of asking

for you

to

give it  to me

For you stole my heart

now give

it

back

Another stunning piece - I love the ambiguity of the theft in that the beginning implies an attempt at theft, whereas the end states a past theft on the part of the sleeper. It was also very clever the way you associated the heart and emotion in such a way that the metaphorical idea of steeling someone's heart here became literal. You brought a dead metaphor to life.

I love the way you wrote this poem. I know those thoughts all so well. It would be so much easier if we could just shut those emotions off and the take our hearts back but many times in this life it is not that simple or easy.

Simply phenomenal!
A truly enthralling read. I love the vivid imagery created here and could feel the familiar agony, the desperation to recover that precious stolen heart...

I agree with everyone else as well, what a wonderful, beautiful write! It's written so spontaneously! You captured a powerful reality into you writing, this is a really great piece. I'm pretty sure this triggers emotions from deep within people, which is a really good thing to have in your writing. Well done! :)

Wow is right, the simplicity of the plea is brilliant. Written with a tenderness that only a broken heart can express.. Well done!

Wow - the almost violent resentment, the demand to see your pain. So beautiful in a most aching way...

Oh...I know how you feel. Why don't they at least mail those to us when they are through with them. This was very sweet and endearing to me. Very cute!
