Fortis Vadom Existo Debello

Fortis Vadom Existo Debello

A Poem by Linear
"

The Valliant Shall be Vanquished This has religious overtones

"

And if i write

shall i write with my hearts blood?

Perhaps i could write of loves sweet tenderness

Or it's deepest bitterness

May my pen serve well

my writing on this wall

Yet when all is said

and finally done

All is vanity

A striving after wind

If i should write a marvelous sonnet

or build a mighty bridge

My thoughts will perish along with bones

returning to the dust

For when i lie down (as we all must)

with my forbears i shall be the same as all

Just Dust

We may as well try and hold the wind

For The Valliant Shall Be Vanquished

And yet we all continue to try and catch that wind with are fingertips. Been bonding with King Solomon lately, huh? With all his wisdom, this is what he found to be true. But his very last words, the conclusion of the matter, was wisdom indeed. Superb writing. A delight to read such melancholy.

brilliant poem, really heartbreaking and sad...though the writing with blood thing at first kind of reminded me of Harry Potter...It's not that I hate harry potter... love him actually but... ok I'll shut up now...-_-'

I love the progression of this poem, from questioning, to resolution, to realization. What does the latin mean in the title?

your pen masters and serves more than well
"Yet when all is said
and finally done
All is vanity
A striving after wind"- How accurate this is.

and yet here within your poem is the mainstay of remembrance because you dip your quill into the heart and write from within its human beats~ and THAT is poetry~
and this is poetry~as humble and as beautiful as it can be~
