We Are Ghosts

We Are Ghosts

A Poem by Linear
"

Something light

"
Is anything really what we first thought?
We are but ghosts in transition
aimlessly searching for something
to hold onto.

like ships without rudders
no port in sight
we reach out for love
yet have no right

With age. I see how un-important one life is. We are here for a short time. In death will fade away to a distance memory. I learn we best appreciate opportunity and try to enjoy our joys and sadness. I like the logic of this poem. Every line strong and with purpose. A outstanding poem.

Still thinking about all this-I read the poem thrice and I am still thinking of what my life and our lives are all about?

The first stanza is magic and it speaks such truth. However, I must agree with Kristina's review below me, I strongly, without a doubt believe that we have every right to seek love. Whatever force put us on this Earth did so with the intention that we enjoy the gift of life that was given to us, and love is the most pleasant of all gifts to be bestowed on one. Love lets us see the world in a more beautiful light and it allows us to be the best people we can possibly be.
Also, just on a rhythmic note- I feel like the fact that the last line is bound to a rhyme structure it breaks away from the flow of the poem since you didn't rhyme before that, it was a little bit distracting and felt kind of forced. However, up until that this poem was on fire for me!

This is simply put but the last line I have to disagree with. I think people deserve to be loved even if we don't think we do. sometimes love can heal many things and when that doesn't work laughter is the best medicine. This poem is beautiful in it's words and the flow is done nicely. The imagery is quite clear and paints picture of ghost ships lost at sea due to being broken like many of us in life.

Isn't funny how we disconnect from life.. disenchanted with the path we have chosen, we often find ourselves searching for the road less traveled.. So thought provoking, rich in depth.. you have sent me down the road of inspiration..
