A Winter SmileA Poem by Lindsey NguyenIts about a girl obviouslyThe snow is drifting down from above Like white cotton displaced from the heavens I shiver, feeling the coldness deepen It appears to have been like this for days This beautiful weather may kill me But the warmth in my heart Will surely be everlasting Exactly like our precious souls I may disguise myself In these thick sheets of clothing But the cold will still fight It fights like the horrific wars However, I am still here My frown has been frozen Sitting on the ice of my face Waiting to be dissolved It waits for the warmth of his words His words and presence Are like the fireplace in winter Or an unstoppable river I feel my face for once And I melt back to life But as most importantly I can finally smile again © 2014 Lindsey Nguyen |
