Scratchin'

Scratchin'

A Poem by Donald Meikle

After twenty or thirty years

A grudge gets lighter

Or maybe it gets comfortable

Lying in its hole

In your soul.

It itches now

and then.

Powerful and resonant and above all, very very true. I love the freshness of the image and how succinct the poem is.
