Just Fine

Just Fine

A Poem by Donald Meikle

Another Sunday morn

Another time to yawn

My favorite time of week

To take the time to speak

And find the time to rhyme

The coffee's only dregs in cups

The empty pot is clean

I simply dream of buttercups

In peeks of Springs that's been

The sun is bright

We slept the night

She's dressing now and clean

The steak and eggs

Refried mash and beans

with onions and garlic

And crunchy bits of fat

are settling as I contemplate another

chocolate high

As you can see I gave up rhyme

again but I'll get by.

Brilliant! I just adore the quirkiness of your poetry, the way you can assert such control and then break it! You draw such a vivid scene of breakfast time and you made me laugh!!!

The odours of getting up in the morning and getting by. Wonderful.

Get by, not doubt, and then some you do! I am a "fly on the wall" it seems as I read this prose. I "feel" the 'atmosphere you describe so vividly. Tender moments cherished. ~ Jude :-)
