Tilly

Tilly

A Poem by Donald Meikle

I have a friend
Now trapped in memories
Who loved a song
I sang today
Since then I've added
More words
Re-seeing him
Helped me hit the notes

.
sometimes the most simple words can be not only the most effect but also the most touching..something hits home with the tone and structure that could not and should not be anything more than it is..perfect.

The structure of this poem added appropriate rhythm. The whimsical feel of the words belied the tragedy underneath and added a sort of reverberation that I can still feel even now.

Wonderful job, and although I'm not much of a poet, I appreciated this piece.
