Silence of the gulls

Silence of the gulls

A Poem by Donald Meikle
"

Read Gandre's January in Tampa, and was inspired trying to review it

"
Wander me through endless beaches sipping only German beer
Late me laze in haze
Pondering the ways
Of drifting through the days
Doing nothing with words to rhyme
and watch another poet
Beating time. Sweet sweet nonsense with only screaming gulls to break the silence

I like this atmospheric piece very much indeed. You have captured the spirit of place very well.

I should like a day of such
to drink a pint and enjoy it much
And as the gulls scream and yell
to listen to the stories you tell......tell oh so well.

You've got some very visual words here for the reader to
imagine. Reminds me of a lazy summer day.

You had no desire to leave this Stilleben. The primary idea was to maintain the separation of your two realms - observing the observed and sorting out your own thoughts by protecting your stillness.... I loved this.
