Fire in Ice

Fire in Ice

A Poem by Donald Meikle

Ice on fire in kindled refraction
A frozen dew filled spider web
Reflects late morning sunlight
In twinkling lies of Winter warmth
A cuddled cat in a sunny window
Licking furry lines of tongue combed royalty
Behind flickering rainbows of reflection

This was lovely.. it takes me to a sweet moment ..I always like the way spider webd hold dew.. this is vivid and I can totally see the scene in my head.

Nicely done this one...your still life with cat and ice...lyrical rendering on a moment in winter time...

I love the richness of the language and the dense imagery. You really capture a feeling of nature and season.

I like the dense images in this. In tone it reminds me of a haiku. Indeed, I think if it was mine I would be tempted to see if I could shuffle it a little and see if I could get a linked haiku out of it.
