goblin goldfishA Poem by Donald Meikle
june tenth and Saturday night
The pool temp is eighty eight The fishpond's a theatre Of gobbling goldfish Under the sputtering flickering bug light A feeding frenzied delight As mosquitoes fall out of flight There's the hint of a breeze caressing bare knees Under starry skies hidden by clouds Chorusing crickets and frogs are competing In rhythm to insective death Successive Kamikazi crackelling Drowning out natural sounds of the night Clearing the air for a midnight swim Of bugfree refreshing and cooling delight © 2009 Donald MeikleReviews
