In Adda Quit

In Adda Quit

A Poem by Donald Meikle

Feelings
expressed in words of endearment
A cheek stroking breeze on a hot Summer day
Cool of tile floor to walking bare feet
The squeeze of a hand.
A quick little hug
Tentative brushing the hair from your face
Following that with a tender embrace
Hoping you're hearing what I haven't said
and that it's some comfort to you instead
Trying to find words
in your moment of need
Is all I can think of to do
Maybe tomorrow I'll know what to say
I wish I could do it today

this tells me how love survives many years, it is in small moments we do for our partner, it is in the knowing the Uknown just innate way, it is in less desire in more caring. Sweet little poem, I loved. Thanks for your review of my new poem. Regards, Lara Gandr

Adequate and then some...we are, when push come to shove, paltry poets when we truly need to be, and so we soldier on with those small gestures we hope are enough--the short hug, the quick squeeze of the hand, the halting and tentative brushing away of a stray hair. This is well-built, poignant, and true to life.
