Ohmygoodness . . . tis golden, Donald! Glass air! You've enchanted me; every.single.word glows, twinkles. These cyber friendships that develop and stick for years ..... they scare me sometimes. And when I wonder at their reality (how can you come to love someone you've never even met?), I remember cyber hugs that dry my tears, hummingbird kisses that tangle in my hair and brush my cheek ~~~ then I know these pathways we wend along miles and miles of ethereal wonder are so special ....... life sustaining. Words, few or many, even lacking tone, body language, eye twinkles and soft smiles, are a powerful connection. I am grateful for mine with you, my eternal friend. xo
Everything about this poem is perfect Donald. They rhyming is subtle and works well with the poem and of course the meaning here is just wonderful. These cyber friendships can be quite deep and caring. I've met several friends here and on other websites that just mean the world to me and I'd miss them if they were gone.
Like this oh! so much. You weave words very well, making little pictures to pop into a pocket then read again later.
As to the theme, sometimes online friendships can be very warm and sincere, can usually (though not always) tell the fakes from the sincere' people. Typed words can touch people just as easily online as in the real world .. just as feelings can strengthen. Of course, the touch and sound of a person is the one thing missing and, holding hands is sooooooo lovely!
' Feathery tingles of faraway fancy / Across a void that has no end / To touch a soul by being a friend / Ether caresses slipping inside / warming a soul along for the ride' - how true.
Wonderful work. "Ether caresses" - sometimes I find phrases that I wish I had written (and that I will probably steal some time of the distant future when it stirs from my subconscious). That is one of them. And there are many others in this poem - "Karma's glass air," "words that never heard of ink." All beautiful. You have a way with words.
This was beautiful. I have been fortunate enough to meet many online friends..sometimes in mass reunions, other times just for coffee. If anyone tries to tell you they are not real, or the feelings they produce are not real, don't grasp the new world we live in. You captured it perfectly. There's just as many fakes at the corner bar, as there are on the internet. Great piece. Rain..
In the brevity here lies the beauty, I know you have your preferency in terms of form, this I like for i is just love how you put those snipets of perceptions together and let me think.
