IntermissionA Poem by Donald Meikle
Reflections dissipating in misty shimmer
As memories of other Summers clamor to be A dragonfly alights in glinting green Balanced on a stalk of wavering grass Rhododendron leaves drip dance in Fall rain As the bouncing skin of rain flows into deepening puddles Showing all imperfections on the worn road surface Myriad highlights of tiny yellow wave in chorus Day brightens as clouds shift To pastel the intensity of colors for a moment Waving the illusion of lost reflection in gossamer wetness Then suddenly all is still The only movement an occasional drip from an overloaded leaf Then rain falls again Softly at first Then steadily and heavily Where do the birds go at a time like this? © 2008 Donald MeikleFeatured Review
